The model runs on your machine.
It downloads once and never leaves. No per-token bill, and it works with the network unplugged.
Create an identity.
Setup issues you a pap:// principal and keeps the private key on your device. Every later request is signed with it, and nobody else holds a copy.
Download the model once.
The model is fetched on first run and cached on your device. Nothing you type afterwards is sent anywhere to be completed.
Keep working with the network unplugged.
Once the model is local there is nothing left to call out to. Disconnect and it keeps answering.
No per-token bill.
A hosted model charges for every token in and out, so what it costs you scales with how much you use it. A local model is one download against hardware you already own. Heavy use costs the same as light use.
You choose the registry.
Imago resolves agents through a pap:// registry. Point it at ours, at your own, or at any registry you trust — that is configuration, not a rebuild. Whichever you pick, the registry resolves and co-signs. It never receives your source.
